Participation

Who can participate?

Any organisation (company, non-profit or public) can apply for participation as long as it has premises used for office purposes in any one of the eighteen countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, or the United Kingdom.

The organisation must be a recognised and based in the European Union, and can participate with as many separate office buildings as desired, as long as energy consumption is metered, and historical data spanning three years prior to the competition is available.

Energy Trophy + solely focuses on energy saving by behavioural change. The occupants of the office buildings are expected to make the savings without investment into energy-saving devices. However, low-cost measures such as the introduction of energy saving light bulbs, adding switches and timers to equipment, and the replacement of written-off equipment by more efficient equipment are also allowed.

In order to ensure a fair competition and to show how much savings can be achieved through behavioural change and low-cost measures alone, for participants conducting high spec renovation or thermo-modernisation work during the competition, this will be factored out when assessing the results.
