Competition
What is in it for us?
- Everyone is a winner! By the end of the one-year competition, every participant will have had the chance to significantly reduce their energy consumption, their CO2 emissions, and their energy bill. The participants in the first round saved 7% in total.
- At a Prize Gala in Brussels you will be awarded for the highest percentage of energy saved EU wide and nationally and the best in-house employee motivation campaign.

And finally, in addition to the opportunities to economize and win a prize, you will
- receive a WEB’log device for monitoring your energy data, which will remain with you after the competition.
- strengthen the corporate identification and the motivation of your staff, through an in-house campaign and their active involvement in the common goal of saving energy (and winning the competition, of course).
- enhance your organisation’s public image through extensive media coverage in national press, specialized publications, newsletters, radio and TV features, etc. PR work is provided by the national-co-ordinators in your country and EU-wide.
- benefit from tools such as posters, checklists, training modules posted on the www.energytrophy.org and the www.energyoffice.org websites, and from an exchange of experience between participants.
- benefit from ongoing advice and support throughout the competition by your national co-ordinators.
What is the Methodology?
In the first phase of the project, the technical and administrative framework of the competition will be set up. Then, approximately 350-450 participants (15-30 from each country) will be recruited to take part in the competition. Next, the competition will be launched and last for 12 months. After 12 months, the results of the participating companies will be collected and evaluated. A large press campaign will be launched to publicise the winners of the European Energy Trophy; the prizes will be awarded at a prize gala. A detailed evaluation of the competition will be undertaken and the results published in a report and on the internet.
What are the Results?
Among the results of the project are, first and foremost, energy savings, cost savings and a reduction in CO2 emissions through the implementation of a multitude of energy saving measures by the participating organisations across Europe. In addition, there will be an established and tested framework for launching the second, third, fourth, etc European Energy Trophy. The Energy Trophy will give rise to substantial publicity for the participating organisations, the project partners, the project funders through the various media campaigns planned for the Energy Trophy.
