Prize Gala Energy Trophy®+

The Energy Trophy+ Prize Gala took place during the European Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels. The European prize winners were awarded for their energy saving achievements and for outstanding information campaigns implemented in order to motivate their employees to save energy.

Cess Egmond from SenterNovem started the gala with a presentation on how to influence behaviour and the successful use of the right instruments for different target groups.

As a second speaker Armand Dütz from B.&S.U., coordinator of the Energy Trophy+ project introduced the project  Energy Trophy+ and visualised the achieved results of all participants. The participants in 17 countries achieved savings of 17 GWh, equalling roughly 9000 tonnes of CO₂ savings.

The speeches were followed by the presentation of the successful participants by Francoise Grossetête, member of the European Parliament, by Pirjo-Liisa Koskimaki from the European Commission and Roger Léron, vize-president of FEDARENE.

All prize winners agreed that receiving the trophies and the implied commendation of their work, as well as the honourable mention of all employees was an important recognition of their efforts and a special motivation to be active in the field of energy saving in the future.

The workshop: "How to influence energy saving behaviour?" Awards and competitions as successful instruments for energy efficiency" took place the next day. Different stakeholders from national and European level presented different energy saving and energy efficiency competitions and discussed their contribution for sustainable energy structures in Europe.
