Winners of the Energy Trophy®+
competition 2007/08
After one year of campaigning for energy savings the winners of the Energy Trophy®+ competition were chosen by an international jury of energy experts. Focus of the competition was to raise awareness for behavioral changes and showing off possibilities for energy savings in office buildings. Measures from switching off electrical devices, as well as low-cost investments were allowed. For the second time companies, public administrations and universities accepted the challenge and competed to win the Energy Trophy®+ for most energy savings.
Following the decision of a jury of international climate and energy experts we proudly present the following winners of the Energy Trophy®+ competition:
Ranking Europe
Category 1: Highest energy savings in buildings on a
"low energy consumption level" (< 219 kWh/m²/a) throughout the EU (in %):
- Library Silistra (Bulgaria), 29 % savings
- CA Puy-en-Velay (France), 27 % savings
- Umweltamt Graz (Austria), 25 % savings
Category 2: Highest energy savings in buildings on a
"high energy consumption level" (> 219 kWh/m²/a) throughout the EU (in %):
- CG42ROANNE (France), 42 % savings
- Eesti Krediidipank (Estonia), 28 % savings
- JSC Dzukija construction (Lithunia), 40 % savings
Category: Best in-house information and motivation campaign:
- Library Silistra (Bulgaria)
- RWE Stoen (Poland)
- SDIS42 (France)
--- Note that the decisions on the winners made by the international Jury was not based only on the energy saved ,but also on the actions implemented by the participants ---
Not all participants are awarded with a trophy, but the saved energy of 11,8% and ca. 9500 less tons of CO2 emitted in office buildings around Europe, proofs that everybody is a winner. Companies, Public Authorities and Universities have proven that their participation and the engagement of many people for energy saving does matter on the way of combating climate change and towards more energy efficiency.
The winners will be ceremonially awarded with the presentation of the Energy Trophies at the European Prize Gala taking place in the course of the European Sustainable Energy Week at February 12th, 2009.
